DrThomas AustinDr. Thomas Austin has been practicing in San Jose since graduating with honors from Los Angeles Chiropractic College (now named Southern California University of Health Sciences) in 1984. Dr Austin practices the following methods: Diversified, Gonstead, Cox Flexion/Distraction, Sacral-Occipital and Thompson Drop Table Techniques. In addition to manipulation of the spine and extremities he employs a lot of muscle work (myofascial release) and uses a variety of physiotherapy methods. Depending upon the condition, he may use electrical muscle stimulation, traction, heat or ice. He also counsels his patients on therapeutic exercises to do at home in order to speed up the recovery process and prevent future exacerbations. Dr. Austin is also a qualified Science Based Nutrition doctor, who objectively analyzes blood work to determine your body's nutritional needs.
Dr. Meghan Dowling graduated as valedictorian with Summa Cum Laude honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 2011. She is interested in all aspects of health and seeks to be a very well-rounded practitioner. While in school, she was an active member of the Sports Council where she gained valuable experience in treating athletes of all kinds. In addition to practicing Diversified, Gonstead and Thompson Drop chiropractic techniques, Dr. Dowling is certified in Graston technique, a soft tissue modality which effectively treats myofascial adhesions. Dr. Dowling is also certified in Webster technique, which is a specific analysis and adjustment to the sacrum to restore optimal pelvic positioning during pregnancy, which can lead to a faster delivery and less pain during birth. Dr. Dowling is a certified Spinning Babies Aware Practitioner, which is training in bodywork and exercises to help optimize fetal positioning. Dr. Dowling has also undergone extensive training in chiropractic pediatrics through the ICPA and various other continuing education resources. She is trained in infant cranial adjusting, as well as lip and tongue tie rehabilitation.
